Music to my ears…but my aching eyes and throat…
We had our last home basketball game on Tuesday and so that was the last Pep Band performance of this year. Man, I love Pep Band… The crowd was awesome that night, too. The girls went into double overtime, losing by one point! They scored the highest they’d ever scored, though. The boys won by two points, and just barely at that. If they hadnt blocked the other team for just a second longer, they’d've gone into overtime, too.
The game didn’t get over with until 10:10 that night and I still had to do homework to turn in before we left for the Music competition on Wednesday, so I only got 4 1/2 hours of sleep. I did, however, sleep approximately 2 hours on the way there the next morning.
I was so nervous when the Choir performed, although I don’t know why… Right now, I’m more comfortable singing and have more fun at it than playing trombone. Singing is just more natural. We got 1 Rating in Band (from the comments, and performance, we expected a 2) and a 2 Rating in Chorus (from the comments, we really expected a 1!). I got a 2+ on my trombone solo. I got a 3 last year, after they changed it to where the Ratings started at 3. I’m going to be a vocal soloist for District Contest and Hannah, Courtney, Bryce and I are taking a vocal quartet. That’s all along with the regular Band and Chorus stuff.
That night, I still had to do homework after getting home from Bible Bowl and work at 6:00. I didn’t get to bed until 11:00 or so and my eyes (left especially) were so agitated from being up for 17 1/2 hours and from the awfully dry weather that we’re having that I had to take out my contacts and haven’t been able to wear them since then because of the dryness, scratchiness, and redness. They were also oozing a little bit…
I think it has something to do with allergies, because my throat and nose are messed up, too.
I guess we’ll see what happens.
Until then,
Caleb.
